Diabetes Prevention Program
You’ve probably read or heard the news that millions of Americans are prediabetic, and that most of them don’t even know it. Prediabetes is a warning sign that diabetes could be on your doorstep.
If you answer yes to one or more of these questions, you might have prediabetes:
- Do you have a parent or sibling with diabetes?
- Are you overweight?
- Are you 65 or older?
- Are between 45 and 65 and mostly physically inactive (no regular exercise)?
See your health care provider and request a blood test to find out if you are prediabetic.
If you have already been diagnosed as prediabetic or at risk for diabetes, the Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing can help. We offer a Diabetes Prevention Program to help you make the necessary lifestyle changes. Taught by our expert staff, the series uses evidence-based practices including a healthful diet, increased physical activity and other lifestyle modifications to improve your health and prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.
